Dear Deerfield School Community,

It is with great excitement and sincere gratitude that I introduce myself as the new principal of Deerfield School. I am honored to join a school community with a proud tradition of academic excellence, amazing and dedicated educators, and engaged families. As we begin our partnership together, please know that I am committed to building upon the strong foundation already in place, fostering a school culture where every student feels valued, challenged, supported, included, and knows that they matter. I look forward to working closely with each of you as we continue to grow, learn, and celebrate all that makes Deerfield School exceptional.

At Deerfield, we believe in educating the whole child. We are committed to true learning and academic achievement, as we are also to nurturing the emotional well-being, wellness, and social development of every student. We emphasize the importance of creating a safe, supportive school environment where all students feel seen, heard, and respected. Research as well as our experience as educators reinforce that learning is at its most effective when students are emotionally available, behaviorally supported, and given the tools to build meaningful relationships with peers and adults alike.

We are proud of our commitment to best practices in teaching and learning. Our dedicated educators continually engage in professional development, reflect on their instructional practices, and collaborate with one another to ensure every student receives the highest quality instruction. In this way, we continually strive to foster curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity, ensuring our classrooms are places where students are inspired, engaged, and encouraged to take ownership of their learning.

With this, we believe in empowering the whole child to strive toward his or her full potential.  To do so, we foster an environment where students are encouraged to set goals, take initiative, and reach their fullest potential - both inside and outside of the classroom. Equally, we value our staff as lifelong learners and leaders, supporting them in professional growth and celebrating their successes. Every individual in our school community is valued and integral to the success of our collective mission.

Our success is only possible through strong partnerships with parents, guardians, families, and the greater Deerfield community. We value our collaboration with parents and guardians, and we welcome your continued involvement in your child’s educational journey.  To that end, our amazing and highly involved Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) plays a vital role in enriching our school culture, and we are excited to build on these relationships to create even more opportunities for student success. Together, we form a team that ensures our children thrive.

As we embark on this school year, I look forward to building relationships, celebrating accomplishments, and working together to ensure every child feels a deep sense of belonging and purpose. I am honored to serve this extraordinary community and lead a school that believes in the promise of every learner.
